If I save stuff in Google Docs. Can it be read by other people?

I want to save some of my work documents on Google Docs. Just in case I fry my hard drive and the server at my office is unreliable for backing up information. Is it safe to save stuff on Google docs?|||Yeah it is. Unless you choose to share it through the docs homepage, you have complete privacy. Just make sure no one knows you google password.
