How do I access my school account on google docs?

At school on our Mac's we used Google Doc's for writing and they said I can use it at home, but when I got home and tried to log in on my laptop it wouldn't work. We used our ID number and password to get in, not email addresses. Can someone help me?|||what I am guessing that is going wrong is that you are most likely using a windows based pc, and when you use a mac it is coded a little differently than a windows based pc. correct me if I am wrong
